Standard 3:  Teachers plan and deliver effective instruction and create an environment that facilitates learning for their students.

 

I am very excited to create an environment that facilitates learning for my students, and while creating the space that allows for this won’t be possible until I have my own classroom, I have been observant of the way other teachers set up their spaces and how it helps with the flow and overall energy of the classroom. I also got to design a management plan for how I want my classroom to run and be set up:

• what my physical space will look like

• what my non-instructional routines will be

• what my instructional routines will be

• techniques I will use in response to negative and positive student behaviors

This assignment helped me visualize how I want my class to run and I fully intent to implement it.

I also strongly believe that interdisciplinary collaboration with teachers from different content areas is instrumental in creating an environment that facilitates learning. I got to work with a group of classmates in different content areas in developing a lesson that involved all our disciplines which was fun and something I think students would enjoy doing. I am also excited to collaborate with teachers in the school I am employed to design lessons that tie in as many content areas as

possible.
