Standard 3: Teachers plan and deliver effective instruction and create an environment that facilitates learning for their students.
Each student in EDUC 350 had to teach a lesson on a Chapter from a book titled Teach Like a Champion. I was assigned chapter 9, Pacing. This was a very helpful chapter in helping teacher better manage pacing- not just speed- in the classroom and how to help students perceive a manageable flow of learning material and information so that learning is not either too overwhelming or too slow and boring. I have included my presentation on the lesson I taught. This demonstrates Element F of Teacher Quality Standard 3.
Even though I didn't get to teach a lesson in 350, weeks before quarantine online learning began, I had the opportunity to teach at the Gregory Allicar Museum at CSU for what is known as Family Day museum tours (Brainy). These events are used as an opportunity to engage the community and invite them to learn about the museum at CSU as well as be a part of guided discussions on interpreting abstract art. This was an invaluable experience for pre-service teachers and for families. I have included a copy of my observations for this. This demonstrates Element D of Teacher Quality Standard 3.
