Mini Standards Portfolio will be created in EDUC 450
EDUC 450 is a part of the capstone course in the teacher licensure program. The course is designed to provide professional development opportunities while spending about 3-4 hours a week observing, assisting, and teaching in a classroom. I had the fantastic experience of attending and observing at Thompson Valley High School under the instruction of Mr. John Knight and Robert Porzycki who were both instrumental in expanding my knowledge of classroom management, organization, planning and collaborating with colleagues across content areas. For in class observation, I was fortunate to observe and assist Mr. Matthew Crawford for an intro drawing class, and Melissa Robinson for a sculpture class. Due to the limitations of online teaching because of Covid, teaching was not ideal, but teachers made the most of it and provided a fruitful and meaningful experience. Getting to the students was difficult, as was teaching through a screen, but it helped us get creative and flexible which has made us all grow and be more versatile and resourceful teachers.
