Stepping out of our comfort zone is difficult. Familiarity is comforting. I want to allow my students to explore with materials and be willing to step out of their comfort zones to expand the boundaries in which they make art. I struggled with assignments in which we had to use unconventional materials. No matter the challenge, there are always ways to create with what's around us.
