Reliquaries were historically made to hold something special or sacred. For this reliquary, I decided to instead etch fingerprints of loved ones on the back of the box as my "something sacred" and to serve as a backdrop to a metaphorical self portrait brooch placed inside the reliquary. No matter how many years go by, or how the relationships with the people that contributed their finger prints for this project turn out, they have left a permanent positive footprint in my life.
